Tier II Girls Program
The Tier II girls program offers the player the opportunity to play at a competitive level of girls hockey. MYHA’s Tier II girls’ teams usually compete in the Capital Beltway Hockey League (CBHL) and the Mid Atlantic Women Hockey League (MWAHA). Depending upon registration numbers, MYHA may field the following Tier II teams:
· U14 team. Players 14 years old and younger
· U16 team. Players 16 years old and younger
· U19 team. Players 19 years old and younger
Try outs for the Tier II teams usually will take place in May. During and immediately after the May try-outs, roster spots will be filled by the most qualified players attending the try-outs. MYHA anticipates that all spots may not be filled after try-outs and that some number of players will be added over the summer.
Starting in September, the Tier II teams will have weekly practices at either Rockville Ice Arena or Cabin John ice rink..
The Tier II teams may play in the girl’s divisions of the CBHL League and the MAWHA League.
Capital Beltway Hockey League (CBHL)
CBHL teams usually are from Chevy Chase, Baltimore, Navy, Northern Virginia and Reston clubs. The CBHL league will likely play a 14 - 16 game schedule depending upon the level with a season ending tournament if the MYHA teams qualifies.
Mid Atlantic Women’s Hockey Association (MAWHA)
This league is comprised of girl only teams in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Long Island and New Jersey. The MAWHA league will likely play a 14 - 16 game schedule depending upon the level with a season ending tournament if the MYHA teams qualifies. Teams that play a MAWHA schedule can anticipate 3 - 4 weekend road trips to the Philadelphia – Harrisburg, New Jersey and/or Long Island area to play away games.
Tier I Girls Program
MYHA has successfully skated multiple teams at the Tier I National Bound level for many years. Since 2001, many MYHA Tier I National Bound teams have qualified for and played in the USA Hockey National Tournament. Our 19U Tier I National Bound team (Washington Pride) continues a long distinguished record of placement of its players into the major college ranks. Over its history, this team has placed over 70 players into major Division I and Division III college programs. The Pride’s mission is to prepare student-athletes for college hockey by providing top national and international competition and exposure to college scouts.
The Tier I National Bound program is not for everybody. A player and a parent must have a high level of commitment to hockey before trying out for these teams. These teams will require a higher level of travel and related expenses plus attendance at all team functions will be required by the head coaches.
Based on the player’s age as of January 1st, MYHA/Washington Pride may field the following Tier I National Bound teams:
· 14U MYHA
· 16U Washington Pride
· 19U Washington Pride

During and immediately after the May try-outs, roster spots will be filled by the most qualified players attending the try-outs. MYHA anticipates that all spots may not be filled after try-outs and that some number of players will be added over the summer and until 12/31.
Starting in September, the U14 Tier I National Bound team will have two practices.
This team will play in the CBHL League, MAWHA league and against other national bound programs and in select tournaments.
