ShareACHA Division 2 Showcase at Rockville Ice Arena2012-09-28
Hockey After High School? You BET!! Learn more Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6 at the ACHA Coaches Seminar, Rockville Ice Arena Hockey doesn’t have to end after your youth playing career is over.
Through the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), more than 450 colleges and universities offer high-level club ice hockey programs, providing student-athletes (boys and girls) with an ideal opportunity to continue playing in a competitive and highly-structured environment.
As you begin to research the next phase of your education, club hockey will keep you “in the game.”
Most schools adopt a “varsity light” approach to their clubs, with a dedicated coaching staff, pre-season training camps, one or two practices per week and travel to nearby schools with one or two games on the weekends. Teams play both league schedules and non-league games and the top teams qualify for year-end national championships.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 5-6-7, the ACHA will host the 2012 ACHA Division 2 Pre-Season Showcase at the Rockville Ice House, 50 Southlawn Court, in Rockville. Twenty-eight teams from all across the U.S. will gather to play three pre-season games to allow league organizers to “get a handle” on levels of play, matchups and talent level.
In addition to watching the games and seeing the action for yourself, the ACHA will host two one-hour seminars, Friday, October 5 from 6:30-7:30 and Saturday, October 6 from 12 noon-1 p.m. You will meet league administrators, coaches, managers and players and find out – first hand – what intercollegiate club hockey is all about. Please click here for registration and additional information or click here to visit the Coaches Showcase section on our tournament website.
The seminars are free with a daily admission to the Showcase (priced at $15 for a single day or $35 for a full weekend pass). But attendance is limited to the first 100 players for each session so please register in advance by emailing kbateman@aboutsage.com to reserve a slot at either session.
